My Hot Rod Deluxe buzzes when I play certain notes, or play loudly. Please help?
It sounds like somethings loose, but theres nothing that i can see.
Could it be the reverb tank?
One way to try to narrow this down is by playing every single note on the instrument, one fret at a time, one string at a time. You should be able to isolate which specific notes buzz at this time, whether open strings or on frets. Take note of which ones buzz.
While you are playing a buzzing note or notes, let the note sustain with one hand while, with your other hand, "feel around" on and around the bridge to test for possible ways of temporarily stopping the buzz. This will help locate the exact location.
Likewise, while you are playing a buzzing note or notes, let the note sustain with one hand while, with your other hand, "feel around" on and around the headstock to test for possible ways of temporarily stopping the buzz. This will also help locate the exact location.
There will be some cases where the buzz is the result of the string vibrating against frets on the neck. Sometimes, if the "action" is too low (how high the strings are off the neck), this will cause a buzzing sound - either on one, a few, or many notes.
If you discover where it is coming from, you might consider adjusting that part of the instrument (if you are able to).
If you are not able to resolve the buzzing issue, then try option "2." - it generally doesn't cost that much for an instrument technician to resolve something such as this.
